why do i update my blog at like 2 AM?
08/31/2024 2:10 AM
my first week having classes again was a bit more stressful than i would have liked it to be. nothing really went wrong with school stuff, i just was stressed & on edge because it's been hard to get back into a routine since we moved to chicago. but i'm in a good place with my schoolwork! like i'm ahead in the readings.
my "organization of information" class is... bruh. our professor said in the video lecture that it's gotta start out really dense & technical but it will get better. i hope she is right. there were so many terms in the first chapter of the textbook & i got so overwhelmed. but my classmates in the online discussion board thingy we have are really nice. so there's that.
here are the short stories i've had to read for "murder, mystery & mayhem" so far & my thoughts:
"rue morgue" by poe - this is pretty good & it's like, the first detective story whatever. i liked it more when i found a reading of it on youtube, & layered that with another video of the sound of rain. i like poe's writing being read out loud more than reading it.
"the adventure of the christmas pudding" by agatha christie. this was my first christie & enjoyed it a lot. it was a cute story & i loved poirot.
"the doom of the darnaways" by g.k. chesterton - didn't like this one. but had a nice gloomy, gothic atmosphere.
"the vindictive story of the footsteps that ran" by dorothy l. sayers - HAVEN'T READ THIS ONE YET OOPS
our next reading assignment is the hound of baskervilles arthur conan soyle (sherlock holmes) & the murder of some guy whose name i forget by agatha christie. i'm kinda excited. it's a nice contrast to my other course.
i hope i feel less discombobulated next week. but whatever it's friday & fleetwood mac just came on so fuck yeah.

reading: same as before, but also school stuff & also i started the 8th animorphs book.
